Twilight Can Be Pornography for Mormon Girls
Pornography for men is usually pictures. Pornography for women is usually the romance novel. Women need the context of a relationship and some emotional attachment to be aroused. Both forms of pornography give addicts unrealistic expectations for their romantic partner.
The man compares his lover's body with the air-brushed bodies in his magazines. The woman compares her lover's actions with the romantic she reads about, who has no other responsibilities outside of the novel.
Porn addicts can never be satisfied because they seek fantasy. The romantic partner of the addict is left feeling inadequate and rejected.

A.MEN. You've said it all, man.
ReplyDeleteThis is laur - most of these other posts I could talk about with you for hours bringing different views while agreeing with some aspects. However, this post is unlike any other in the fact that I hands down completely 100% agree without hesitation. I read the book because someone I know LOVED it and told me to read it. I hated every moment and was wondering in the end as I realized the author was a woman, and LDS, if she would feel comfortable with the prophet or the Lord reading her work.
ReplyDeleteI know that may be an extreme side to take, but I'm serious. I hate how the book talks about how her agency was never present because she was "in love" with this vampire dude before she even had the choice. LAME! It gives too many excuses to too many people to write off their actions due to love they couldn't choose to have. And also, I felt like I was reading a 9th grade short story that went on way too long.
Ahhh I am so glad I got to vent that out. Thanks.
