People who say, "I don't like either candidate." mean that McCain turns them off, and Obama is a Democrat, and don't democrats marry gay people and kill babies? So they are against McCain because of who he is, and against Obama because of his party. At least in Utah. Does it make you angry to be lumped into a category like this? Not as angry as it makes me to think you'll vote for Palin the Bush-clone to avoid "the lesser of two evils." I actually kind of like McCain. But he has run a campaign of fear and hate. Our current government uses those same tactics. They use fear because a populace that is afraid of an external enemy will unite against their own best interests. Obama inspires hope and uses reason. Because he thinks we Americans are smart, and are able to base decisions on more than gut feelings. Terrorists use fear to get people to do what they want. Under this definition, Bush, McCain, and Palin are terrorists. We have nothing to fear but...

How to Lose an Election in Utah

Image
This guy isn't stupid, he's just foreign. Doesn't get the nuances of local politics. Apparently he ran for office in South America (Peru?), won, but then the government was overthrown. So he fled the country and came to Utah, and ran for office here. Two reasons he'll lose: 1. He advertises that he's a Democrat. That costs him the Republicans, which is like 90% of the vote. 2. He says he's for McCain. That costs him any Democrats that might have voted for him. Oops.

How Wall Street Owns You

Image
We work all our lives for someone else. You have to go to school to make money, so you take out a loan from the bank to pay the school, and you are in debt to the bank. Then you have to buy a house to raise your family, so you take out a loan to pay the home owner, and you are in debt to the bank. There are other things you want to buy, a car to get to work, other goods to make life worth living. So you get a loan, or use your credit card. And you are in debt to the bank. Then you get sick of your job and want to be your own boss, so you take out a loan to start a company. And you are in debt to the bank. Every day you go to work for someone else. You put in a good day's labor, but you don't get to keep what you make. A big portion of your money will go to those who own you, until you are too old and worn to work anymore. It is a pretty good system. We are happy slaves. And others profit from our work, because they have money. They do not need to work. That is our job.

" There are instruments so dangerous to the rights of the nation and which place them so totally at the mercy of their governors that those governors, whether legislative or executive, should be restrained from keeping such instruments on foot but in well-defined cases. Such an instrument is a standing army ." --Thomas Jefferson to David Humphreys, 1789. Jefferson read history, and knew that standing armies had turned the free Republic of Rome into a dictatorship. He made sure that this would not happen in the free nation which he helped establish. 200 years later, it has happened. Human Capital and Spreading the Wealth

Image
War is the exchange of human capital for money. The $700,000,000,000 bank bailout was a onetime deal. Every year we give $400,000,000,000 to war profiteers. Let me say that again. The government takes our money, and every year, gives it to rich people who design and build weapons of mass destruction. This is redistribution of wealth on a mass scale. It dwarfs the current debate. Neither candidate will debate this. They are both for it. Those who oppose it will be labeled 'weak' on defense. They will be booed for neglecting the troops. By 'the exchange of human capital' I mean that we kill our own troops, other troops, and civilians for profit. This year you are not voting for big government or small government. You're voting on to what extent we should spend our money on destruction abroad or construction at home. Unlike cashing in on human capital, investing in human capital does not make money. If we invest $400 billion in war, some will profit at the expe...

Fightin' words...

Image
Kathy here: today's guest blogger. While Christopher posts most everything on this blog, I figure it's about time for me to weigh in again. Last night, I watched the movie Why We Fight. I recommend it. I am sickened at how many boys and girls we've poured into our wars: for what? For money. Yes, there's a time to stand up and fight for what we believe in, but the way we've gone about it is so greedy and inflammatory that we can't say we're good, fighting against evil. We've complicated the issue with dollar bills. We can't take down the military-industrial complex overnight. It's entrenched in our government, in our money, in our very way of life. But we CAN resist the fighting mindset as individuals. Think about it; we fight and fight and fight. Not only do we send bombs and tanks and guns and troops to other countries, but we fight amongst ourselves. Some McCain supporters shout horrifying epithets during rallies , while some Obama sup...

The Good Samaritan for Obama

Image
The Parable of the Good Samaritan goes like this: A guy gets mugged and stripped naked. He's left on the side of the road. A priest and a Levite pass him by, but a Samaritan stops to help him. This was a radical tale for Jesus to tell because Samaritans were like the Muslims of the 1st century. They were distrusted and hated by the majority religion. Obama leads Democrats (the donkey) to help the poor. It was like a an American boy getting mugged, and having Jerry Falwell and Sarah Palin walk past him, and then an al Qaeda Muslim stops to help. Obama is not a Muslim, but he is in the minds of those to whom it would matter. (like people who watch Fox News ) Each of us has our own excuse for walking past the poor. It's our money. They deserve what they get. They're lazy and will take advantage of us. But Obama gets it. I'll let him speak for himself: "If there's a child on the south side of Chicago who can't read, that matters to me, even if it's no...

Adam Smith for Obama

Image
Adam Smith, who fathered capitalism in his book “The Wealth of Nations” (1776)wrote: "It is not very unreasonable that the rich should contribute to the public expense, not only in proportion to their revenue, but something more than in that proportion." McCain has smeared Obama, repeating "Spreading the wealth around," and "Socialism" in the same breath to scare us . Senator McCain " Just doesn't understand " capitalism very well. Check out Obama's Tax Plan Adam Smith quote found by The New Yorker

The President for McCain

Image
The President wants McCain to win . SNL has made fun of this , and McCain has tried to distance himself from Bush, and rightly said: " I am not President Bush ." But the most powerful man in the world wants McCain to win. And here's one way he could do it: He could scare the hell out of us. Bush by Drew Friedman In the week before the 2004 election Kerry was cocky-sure he was going to win. That Friday, Osama bin Laden released another tape. Voters peed themselves and voted Bush . That smells dirty. Either a Bushite did it, or Osama did. Either way, they wanted the same thing . I wouldn't be surprised if the same thing happened this year, or even worse. A McCain adviser said that a terrorist attack would be a good thing for McCain . The White House has a monopoly on intelligence. They could have bin Laden tapes we've never seen. They could re-edit old footage and release a 'new' tape. I predict that if a terrorist attack happens before the election...

Palpatine '08

Image
Star Wars is a perfect metaphor for this election. McCain sucks hope from Obama by telling you, the voter, lies. Remember this? Mace Windu is about to rock the vote by skewering Palpatine, but Palpatine lies and convinces Anakin to turn against Windu. Yep. Once Obama started rocking the polls, McCain pulled out the big guns: lies, smears, and fear, to trick you into voting against Obama. Admit it. You're not voting for McCain. You're just voting against Obama. Star Wars is actually why I'm voting Obama. It taught me that the Empire can be bad, and Rebels can be good, even if most people think rebels are dangerous scum. Star Wars prepped me for U.S. History in high school. I immediately understood that Darth George III was Vader, and George Washington was Luke Skywalker. That they shared the name 'George' confirmed it: Washington was Darth George's son. King George is compensating for something Obama learned the same thing , though not by watching Star W...

The Mormon Satan

Satan does not smoke or drink. He has no tattoos. He's never committed adultery, or any other sexual sin. He's never stolen. He's never murdered. He's never done any of the things we usually think of as sin, because he does not have a body capable of such sins. What has he done that makes him the worst of the worst? He's a self-righteous prick. Click here for more .

Al Qaeda Endorses McCain

Image
McCain accused Obama of being endorsed by terrorists, Then McCain was endorsed by terrorists. See more McCain oopsies . Last April a Hammas advisor, Ahmed Yousef, said : "Actually, we like Mr. Obama. We hope he will [win] the election and I do believe he is like John Kennedy, great man with great principle. We like Mr. Obama and we hope he will win the election. He has a vision to change America." McCain immediately jumped on this, and said the terrorists want Obama to win . "I never expect for the leader of Hamas...to say that he wants me as president of the United States. I think it is very clear...why they would not want me to be president of the United States, so if Senator Obama is favored by Hamas , I think people can make judgments accordingly ." When he said that, he wasn't betting on Al Qaeda rooting for him. Hamas are terrorists, but, what have they ever done to us? Al Qaeda, on the other hand, I do not need to remind you. Al Qaeda's endorsemen...

More Muslim Mayhem

Image
Many American mothers have sacrificed their sons to the service of their country. One moved Colin Powell to endorse Obama . Khan's mother at her son's grave. What! Those terrorists are fighting alongside our soldiers. Next thing you know, they'll want to vote. Seriously though. The McCain campaign is using racism, fear , lies , and slander to win this campaign. If Obama was a Muslim, why would it matter? Is Corporal Khan's sacrifice any less because of his faith?

David Sedaris on Undecided Voters

To put them in perspective, I think of being on an airplane. The flight attendant comes down the aisle with her food cart and, eventually, parks it beside my seat. “Can I interest you in the chicken?” she asks. “Or would you prefer the platter of [feces] with bits of broken glass in it?” To be undecided in this election is to pause for a moment and then ask how the chicken is cooked. I mean, really, what’s to be confused about? link to the full article

Palin Around

Image
Someone anonymously posted: "What is the liberal point of view toward Jeremiah Wright? I'm curious as to what someone that is for Obama thinks about that? Personally it makes me nervous." Stephen Colbert proves that black people aren't scary McCain/Palin have tried to taint Obama's reputation through the logical fallacy of guilt by association. (See this attempt at character assassination .) To show you how ridiculous guilt by association is, I'll apply it to myself. My father was an adulterer and is an atheist. My mother fornicated with her live in boyfriend for years. I lived with an uncle who viewed pornography. I have a cousin who smokes weed and is in prison for rape. I consider two gay men, Dennis and Randy, as uncles. I often visited their house, sometimes alone, while growing up. One of my dearest childhood friends is homosexual. One of my favorite college professors counseled a couple to get an abortion while he served as a bishop. I must be a sexua...

The Real America

Image
McCain accused Obama of being friends with a dangerous terrorist, As Palin whipped up a mob to a dangerous frenzy. McCain accused Obama of being elitist, And then Palin told small town America that they are better than the rest of America. McCain accused Obama of being too inexperienced to be President, And then chose Palin as his running mate. McCain/Palin would destroy the union to win an election. Don’t believe me? Which of these quotes divide, and which unite? "The contest is not over, the strife is not ended. It has only entered upon a new and enlarged arena. The principle for which we contend is bound to reassert itself, though it may be at another time and in another form." Jefferson Davis, President of the Confederate States of America, after the war had ended. "We believe that the best of America is in these small towns that we get to visit, and in these wonderful little pockets of what I call the real America, being here with all of you hard-working, very patr...

Jarecki: Like Unto the Book of Mormon

Image
Eugene Jarecki made some points that sounded like he got them from the Book of Mormon. Like: "The world is not a secure place, and you cannot have perfect security, and what you can do by trying to pursue perfect security is you can literally bankrupt yourself as a nation, on every level, spiritually, economically." "You can destroy from within, that which you're trying to protect from without." The Nephites tried to have perfect security by wiping out the Lamanites. In doing so, they became morally bankrupt, and lost that which they tried to protect. Incredible. " a fear not them which kill the body , but are not able to kill the soul : but rather b fear him which is able to c destroy both d soul and body in e hell ." Matt. 10:28 Some will trust in their presidential candidate to protect them. Some in government will trust in amassing weapons to protect them. I trust in God alone. I fear not, even when I am told to fear. I doubt not the p...

The Founders were unAmerican

Image
Congresswoman Michele Bachmann called Obama unAmerican . He's also been slandered with the 'terrorist' label. Sorry folks, terrorists founded this country. Our founding fathers committed treason against their government to establish this free country. In the ensuing war, they used guerrilla, or 'terrorist', tactics to ward off an insurmountably larger army. And the constitution they wrote left the government weak enough, and the people free enough, so that if the government ever degraded to tyranny, the people would be able to overthrow it. Governments all tend toward tyranny, because the simplest way to govern is to put all power into the hands of one man. No laws, committees, or votes slow down the decision-making process. The Founders knew this. They had read of Rome, that great republic which decayed to tyranny. And they lived under one, in the person of King George III. Power-hungry leaders will leech more power by convincing the people that quicker decisio...

unAmerican

Image
A congresswoman accused Obama of being unAmerican, and hinted that other congressmen might be too. She is resurrecting a witch-hunt, the foul devil that ruined the lives of so many during the Red Scare . And it made me think. If there ever comes a day when a certain group is persecuted, so much that even association with that group could lead to prosecution, I will claim allegiance to that group, if by doing so I could defend free speech. If, for example, the Red Scare were to revive. If asked if I were a communist, I would respond: "I am not a communist, but if I will be punished for saying that I am a communist, then I say that 'I am a communist.'" We need to protect free speech. For in order for us to hear the truth, others need to be allowed to speak the truth, regardless of its consequences. The Savior was crucified for speaking the truth. And I will not become part of that mob. Because of free speech, America was the only country where the Gospel could be res...

McCain tries to destroy democracy

McCain claims the antics of a few part-time slackers will "destroy the fabric of democracy." This ardent defender of Democracy at the same time uses every option to disenfranchise the unsuspecting voter. The Obama Team's white guy with an afro explains.

Crazy eyed lady says: McCain a Christian; Obama an Obama.

NY Jews: Russia's Sleeper Agents?

Extreme Home Makeover: Concentration Camp Edition

Image
Jason Chaffetz will represent Utah as a congressman, after he whips Bennion Spencer this election. Bennion Spencer, though a Democrat, is endorsed by major Republicans, and should win, because Chaffetz is unbalanced. Chaffetz will embarrass Utah on a national scale. He has already devised a plan to put Latinos in concentration camps . But he will win, because: 1. He is a Republican in Utah. 2. He is a convert to the Church. 3. He kicked for BYU football. This is not a list of qualifications for office. It resembles that list, "My Future Husband" that young women make, it only lacks: 4. Like Captain Moroni. So he's going to win. Sorry Bennion. But after Chaffetz wins, I'm going to send Bennion an email. I want to contact Habitat For Humanity, and see if they'd help us build some homes for the hard-working Latinos that Chaffetz will criminalize and lock behind barbed-wire, so they won't have to live in tents. Maybe we can even get Extreme Home Makeover to...

Four Real Joe Plumbers

Check them out.

Who's the real Joe Plumber?

McCain has blackened Obama's reputation by digging up dirt of the people Obama has associated with. McCain is also friends with a criminal, George Liddy, who masterminded Nixon's dirty tricks campaign for reelection. The committee was aptly named CREEP (The Committee to ReElect the President). Liddy's actions led to Nixon's resignation. Dave Letterman brought it up in an interview with senator McCain. Start at 19.22. Here's the scoop : George Gordon Battle Liddy (born November 30, 1930) was the chief operative for the White House Plumbers . He masterminded the first break-in of the Democratic National Committee headquarters in the Watergate building in 1972. The subsequent cover-up of the Watergate scandal led to Nixon's resignation in 1974; Liddy served four and a half years in prison for his role in the burglary. In 1998 Liddy hosted a fundraiser at his house for John McCain 's re-election campaign at which guests could have their pictures taken with M...

Christians' Bad Example

I wrote that Christians were commies. Turns out they followed a bad example. For ye know the a grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was b rich , yet for your sakes he became c poor , that ye through his d poverty might be rich. 2 Corinthians 8:9 That's like uber-Robin Hood, not robbing from rich people, but himself, and giving to the poor. In following the Savior's example, we need not give to the extent that we make ourselves poor , and unable to give any more.

The 7-1 Conspiracy

Image
A co-worker brought up that late-night comics make fun of Republicans seven times more than they tease Democrats. He then said, "Why does that not surprise me?" Instead of telling him, I'm going to blog about it, because I'm anti-social. It's simple. If Obama had chosen a hillbilly as a potential president, Democrats would get a fairer share of jokes. But Obama chose someone who is qualified . More smart than funny. Also, American culture is youth-focused. Americans treat oldness like a disease. They get surgeries, take pills, and change their lifestyles to avoid it. You see? To Americans, John McCain isn't just old, he's a victim of disease. One of those gross diseases. And we can't help but stare . We have to laugh to keep from crying. One more point. Not only has McCain's pick provided plenty of ammunition for jokes, it has also cast doubt in the minds of voters on McCain's qualifications. If McCain is reckless enough to pick someo...

Space is All Man

Image
Astronauts have reported that space smells like: " fried steak, hot metal and even welding a motorbike ." In other words, space smells like this: This validates what ancients thought: that Earth is a woman and Space is a man . Makes sense. Earth smells like rainfall ( petrichor ), flowers, and spices. Space smells like meat, bullets, and hot cars. Earth allows life to grow. Space kills everything. Nintendo had this whole 'space is manly' thing figured out a long time ago. Not only did they know that guys intuitively think of space as a place where our arms are guns, our clothes are mechanical, and there are plenty of things to shoot; but they stuffed a smoking hot babe inside of the suit. Because they knew that guys who had this much time to fantasize about space would not likely have girlfriends. Note: Every man wishes at least one of his hands was a gun.

Scared Red

Image
Glenn Beck, the Mormon prophet of politics, has denounced Democrats as Marxists . He said: "They're all spread the wealth," and "I'm going to take some of your wealth and give it to somebody else, that's Marxism." Whether or not his inflammatory hate speech is true, what's wrong with Marxism? Well, we're all scared of Russia, and they were Marxists. Palin's banking on that fear . Maybe Marxism is bad. But let me give you another example of Marxism that may scare the hell out of you: And all that believed were together, and had all things a common ; And sold their possessions and goods, and parted them to all men, as every man had a need . Acts 2: 44-45 Christians. Those jerks. All about spreading the wealth. Of course, the difference is choice. If we choose to help the poor, that's Christianity. If we're forced to help the poor, that's Marxism. If we completely neglect the poor, that's Republicanism.

Nigger for President? Never

More racists and religious extremists against Obama. Here's some quotes: “I’m afraid if he wins, the blacks will take over. He’s not a Christian! This is a Christian nation! What is our country gonna end up like?” “When you got a Negra running for president, you need a first stringer. He’s definitely a second stringer.” “He seems like a sheep - or a wolf in sheep’s clothing to be honest with you. And I believe Palin - she’s filled with the Holy Spirit, and I believe she’s gonna bring honesty and integrity to the White House.” “He’s related to a known terrorist, for one.” “He is friends with a terrorist of this country!” “He must support terrorists! You know, uh, if it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, it must be a duck. And that to me is Obama.” “Just the whole, Muslim thing, and everything, and everybody’s still kinda - a lot of people have forgotten about 9/11, but… I dunno, it’s just kinda… a little unnerving.” “Obama and his wife, I’m concerne...

Economics of War

Image
I just learned a simple economic principle: People will use lots of an abundant resource to compensate for a scarce resource. Example: Farmers in Japan use a lot of workers on a little land. Abundant resource: People Scarce resource: Land. Farmers in the U.S. use a lot of land and few workers. Abundant resource: Land Scarce resource: People. We place more value on scarce resources. This principle also applies to the current war on terror. The U.S. tries to supply its soldiers with expensive state-of-the-art equipment. Abundant resource: Money Scarce resource: People. Terrorists use makeshift bombs to blow themselves up. Abundant resource: People Scarce resource: Money. When the U.S. begins to draft soldiers again, we will know that our society values money over human life. Instead of spending more money on battle armor and weaponry that would make a few soldiers more efficient, they will just toss in more soldiers. Until then, support our troops by paying your taxes. That's righ...

Heart Stopper

Image
Did anyone else notice that as soon as Cindy McCain walked on stage, the CNN rate-o-tron flatlined? Maybe the red dress made them think they were seeing the Devil next to the pale Grim Reaper. Everyone recovered though after Obama shot rays of hope out of his hand. My wife told me to title this "An Unfair Observation"
