Scared Red

Glenn Beck, the Mormon prophet of politics, has denounced Democrats as Marxists. He said:

"They're all spread the wealth," and "I'm going to take some of your wealth and give it to somebody else, that's Marxism."
Whether or not his inflammatory hate speech is true, what's wrong with Marxism?

Well, we're all scared of Russia, and they were Marxists. Palin's banking on that fear. Maybe Marxism is bad.

But let me give you another example of Marxism that may scare the hell out of you:

And all that believed were together, and had all things acommon;
And sold their possessions and goods, and parted them to all men, as every man had aneed.
Acts 2: 44-45

Christians. Those jerks. All about spreading the wealth.

Of course, the difference is choice. If we choose to help the poor, that's Christianity. If we're forced to help the poor, that's Marxism. If we completely neglect the poor, that's Republicanism.

  1. Having lived in a post communist/marxist ideal country, trust me...you do not want to move in that direction. Also I think conservatives are banking on the poor relying on churches and individuals (christianity or other faiths) to help the poor. Why have the government pay for people's food so they can watch HBO?

  2. Great point.

    I just wish Republicans would make that clear, because their current rhetoric makes me think that they love their money more than they love the poor.

    Also, Lazy HBO fans could abuse the system, but that does not mean the system is bad.

    Thanks for the feedback.

  3. Yeah the republican party right now is a joke. I think of myself as a conservative but not repulican.

    I just wish people would go to the government as a last resort. Forcing everyone to help takes away freedom and that is never a good thing...even when it may seem heartless. When you are forced to be charitable is it still charitable?
