Extreme Home Makeover: Concentration Camp Edition
Jason Chaffetz will represent Utah as a congressman, after he whips Bennion Spencer this election. Bennion Spencer, though a Democrat, is endorsed by major Republicans, and should win, because Chaffetz is unbalanced.
Chaffetz will embarrass Utah on a national scale. He has already devised a plan to put Latinos in concentration camps. But he will win, because:
1. He is a Republican in Utah.
2. He is a convert to the Church.
3. He kicked for BYU football.
This is not a list of qualifications for office. It resembles that list, "My Future Husband" that young women make, it only lacks:
4. Like Captain Moroni.
So he's going to win. Sorry Bennion.
But after Chaffetz wins, I'm going to send Bennion an email. I want to contact Habitat For Humanity, and see if they'd help us build some homes for the hard-working Latinos that Chaffetz will criminalize and lock behind barbed-wire, so they won't have to live in tents.
Maybe we can even get Extreme Home Makeover to help us out. I can't think of anyone who has a sadder story than those who risked their lives to come to the Land of Freedom only to be thrown into concentration camps.

It's so unfortunate that this state will be embarrassed on a national scale. Hopefully, it will help us realize that voting straight down party lines is lazy and unwise.
ReplyDeleteBoo hoo, so many people talking like the illegal immigrants are the victims in this situation. My tax money is paying for their children's schooling, their healthcare, incarceration of their criminal element (which accounts for 27% of our United States prison population), and their foreclosures. Then, to top it off, their presence here keeps wages down for American citizens. We're the victims here. If we're going to have immigrants come into our country, let's have them do it legally, and enhance our country, not drag it down to third world status.
ReplyDeleteIf you would have them come here legally, by what laws would you have them come? By the laws of the descendants of those who came here, and in disregard to the laws of God murdered and savaged the original inhabitants, stole their land, and enslaved and brutalized their children?
ReplyDeleteOh abused taxpayer, how God hath forsaken you! Pray that God, or a politician, may quickly relieve your burden.
And for your kindness, on the other side, you will find a wall, and laws, barring your black heart from entry.
You have to listen to the source. It is sad you have made you decision based on incorrect information.
ReplyDeleteJason has called for a federal detention facility in the west to house federal prisoners.
Only those convicted of a crime would be housed in this facility.
He concurs with the Western Governor’s Association, which passed a resolution calling for the federal government to build a facility to house its own prisoners.
Federal prisoners who are not violent criminals are often released because there is no prison space to hold them.
The detention facility would house only those who are convicted of federal crimes – whether or not these people are illegal immigrants.
Jason has also suggested that tent facilities similar to those in Arizona are good enough for our soldiers in Iraq and should be good enough for our federal prisoners here at home.
You are blasting Jason Chaffetz, and should not be, as he is a voice of reason and is not promoting the ideas he is accused of.
ReplyDeleteThere are supporters of both sides that are much more restrictive than Jason Chaffetz is.
Jason is more a voice of reason compared to:
There are people that want to round up all 12 million illegals, and are mad that Jason DOESN'T want to do that. Jason only wanted facilities where the government wouldn't have to catch and release felons. There are 600,000 they have let go. We wouldn't have to build facilities for that many, as we just need a temporary facility for convicted criminals, to be held prior to deportation.
There are people that don't want anyone new moving in, where Jason wants to fix LEGAL immigration so it doesn't take so long to legally come here.
There are people that think providing any temporary worker visa is wrong, where Jason agrees it is a great way to bring people out of the shadows, get rid of the fake IDs, but this in NO WAY provides a pathway to citizenship in front of those wanting to immigrate who have followed the rules.

ReplyDeleteThanks arc. Your voice is much more reasonable than the "stop the invasion" fanatic. If Chaffetz turns out to be as balanced as you claim, we're lucky.
ReplyDeleteStill, people are going to vote for him for the wrong reasons.
For example, an article in BYU's newspaper, The Daily Universe, mentioned that he was a convert, and a former BYU kicker. And that's all most people will know about him.
Thanks for helping to make my site, which is pretty radical, into a more balanced dialog.
And I'd still like to get better facilities built for the illegals. A permanent base will be built for our troops in Iraq. But since the troops don't stay in one spot all day, but need to move around, centralized housing would be impractical for them. It would be practical, and humane, for prisoners.
Chrisopher,
ReplyDeleteThere are always better ways of doing things.
The real key is fixing Legal immigration so it doesn't take so long, and fixing it so there is no incentive to come here illegally.
If you do those two things, much of the bad situation we have can be solved.
One of the reasons I was impressed with Jason when I first met him was he started with fixing legal immigration. A good friend of mine came to the US from Vietnam right after the fall in the 1970s.
I personally know other people that came legally, and the system has failed them.
I would have no problem if the 12 million got workers visas, went back and applied to come legally, and were welcomed legally before their worker visa ran out. I just don't want those that have waited for years to be passed up. Again, if there is incentive to come here illegally, there won't be an incentive to follow the rules.
Your analysis is all wrong. Chaffetz isn't going to win because of the reasons you outline. He's going to win because:
ReplyDelete1. He has the right values for the country. Even though the Republicans don't adhere to them (RINOs), the principles are correct. And Chaffetz certainly stands strong in favor of them.
2. He has integrity and character. He says he's not going to spend money we don't have when he's elected so guess what he's doing now? NOT SPENDING money he doesn't have--his whole campaign has remained completely out of debt. Heck, he doesn't even buy votes with a good buffet at events!
3. He has a plan. All those BYU fans and others volunteer their time for him because they've listened to him articulate his plan, and guess what? It makes sense!
Just listen to one Spencer/Chaffetz debate. It'll quickly become clear that only Chaffetz comes across as the new "maverick". With the other guy we just get "more of the same failed" politics-as-usual blame games as before...
Jeremy,
ReplyDeleteIf I understand correctly, your points are that Chaffetz:
1. Is not a RINO.
2. Is fiscally conservative
3. Has a plan.
Those are excellent points.
I have not met Chaffetz nor Bennion. I do not work for either party, and I do not know anyone who knows them personally.
From the average "Joe" voter I've talked to, the points I mentioned in the post are the ones they are most familiar with.
Thanks for the feedback.
Christopher, thanks for the comments you've added. ;) It's unfortunate that Jason's opponent has twisted Jason's position on detention facilities for felons (which he said - as he quoted Joe Arapio - that if tents were good enough for our troops in Iraq, it's good enough for our prisoners). He never, ever, said the words "tent city".
ReplyDeleteI do totally agree with your assessment - he's NOT a rino, he is a fiscal conservative, he has a plan.
That aside, your photo-shopping is fall-on-the-floor funny!! Thanks for the giggle. :)
