Putin words in my mouth
McCain has said that Obama will lose a war to win an election. Perhaps McCain wants to win a war to win an election.
Tsar Putin hinted that "someone" created the Georgian conflict to win votes. In his own words:
“The suspicion would arise that someone in the United States created this conflict on purpose to stir up the situation and to create an advantage for one of the candidates in the competitive race for the presidency in the United States. They needed a small victorious war.”
By "someone" he undoubtedly meant McCain. It probably sounded more like "Gibblegobbleflippersnapm," if he was speaking in Russian and this is a translation. If he did speak in English for the CNN interview, huzzah for English. USA #1.
McCain is good friends with the President of Georgia. Putin thinks the two of them might have schemed an election-winning war together. Putin may be a conspiracy-theory lunatic, as I am, but McCain knows war. He feels comfortable with war. He may not have scruples about creating a war with his buddy the President of Georgia to win an election, especially if he's working with Karl Rove.(see: dirty tricks)
We need a president who does not hover his fidgety finger over the shiny red button of death. We need a president who is willing to talk. McCain is old enough to remember the Cold War. This is not another McCain-is-old-joke, rather a reminder that for the older generation, the Soviets were our enemies, and the #1 threat to the USA. The Cold War is over, but there are many of the older generation who still want to win it, and to win it, they need to bring it back.
Sometimes war is necessary. But what is war, if not murder on a mass scale justified by patriotism and distance? Do have a friend or family member who has been murdered? Or who has died or been wounded in war? How did that make you feel toward the culprits? You see where I'm going with this.
When my boss has a problem with me, I'm glad she threatens to lower my wage and terminate my employment, rather than terminating my life. Sanctions first, violence last.
