My Apology to Jason Chaffetz
I forgot to mention that Chaffetz demanded an apology from those who told him that concentration camps are wrong.
"Where these guys are overstepping the line is saying that it has anything to do with ethnicity. They absolutely should apologize for that. That has never been my position, and it is terribly unfair and inaccurate," Chaffetz said. "If you're breaking the law and you're a fugitive, I want to go after you and put you in jail. I don't care if you're from Russia, Japan or Guatemala, it doesn't matter to me." [emphasis added]
Before my apology, a rebuttal. Illegal immigrant means Latino. Those with Border Anxiety Disorder don't worry about Russian or Japanese, immigrants; they worry about Spics and Latinos. 81 % of illegal immigrants come from Latin America. The concentration camps would be disproportionately Latino regardless of Chaffetz's proclaimed egalitarianism.
Now an apology. "I apologize Mr. Chaffetz. Your concentration camps do not regard ethnicity as did U.S. concentration camps, they welcome all nationalities, as did Nazi concentration camps."
Whereas the U.S. mostly locked up the Japanese, Nazis locked up: Slavs, Ethnic Poles, Soviet POWs, the Roma, the disabled and mentally ill, gays, Freemasons and Jehovah's Witnesses, and political activists.
That last one really gets me. If Chaffetz is elected, and if he builds his camps, I will refuse to remain free. I will demand to be locked up with them as long as Chaffetz violates Liberty and disregards the Constitution.
He may argue that illegal immigrants do not have Constitutional protection. But I will remind him of what he does not find self evident: "That all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness."
These rights are not bestowed by any nation on earth, they are given by our Creator. If Chaffetz feels that the Creator's absence has endowed him with the right to abolish these rights, let him remember: "That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it."
Let us abolish Jason Chaffetz from politics. On November 4th, vote Bennion Spencer.

Wow. You make some good points.
ReplyDeleteTone down some of the contempt and you've got yourself an op-ed.
Those that are blasting Jason Chaffetz, should not be, as he is a voice of reason and is not promoting the ideas he is accused of.
ReplyDeleteThere are supporters of both sides that are much more restrictive than Jason Chaffetz is.
Jason is more a voice of reason compared to:
There are people that want to round up all 12 million illegals, and are mad that Jason DOESN'T want to do that. Jason only wanted facilities where the government wouldn't have to catch and release felons. There are 600,000 they have let go. We wouldn't have to build facilities for that many, as we just need a temporary facility for convicted criminals, to be held prior to deportation.
There are people that don't want anyone new moving in, where Jason wants to fix LEGAL immigration so it doesn't take so long to legally come here.
There are people that think providing any temporary worker visa is wrong, where Jason agrees it is a great way to bring people out of the shadows, get rid of the fake IDs, but this in NO WAY provides a pathway to citizenship in front of those wanting to immigrate who have followed the rules.
