Barney Frank, a Jewish Senator, lays the smackdown on townhall "Obama is Hitler" protester.
Sweet.
These white Christians who compare Obama to Hitler are the sons and daughters of people who opposed the Civil Rights movement. They are the descendants of slave owners and racists, and many of them are racists themselves. They are heirs of the oppressors. Their supposed protests against tyranny are the very cogs and wheels of tyranny. Their demonstrations show the power of the lynch mob, not strength of character. They stand against Obama because he is black, but do so cloaked in the language of those who stood up against ignorant mobs for the sake of liberty.

Love Barney Frank!
ReplyDeleteWow! You certainly are making a lot of assumptions and generalizations here. You seem to be quite a bigot yourself.

For the record, I would never call the president "Hitler", but the woman does enjoy free speech, at least for the time being, and Mr. Frank was exceptionally rude to her.
KFMumzee. I did generalize. And perhaps I am a bigot.
ReplyDeleteMr. Frank was rather rude. But he made a good point. The woman was not asking questions for the sake of honest dialogue.
Her question was loaded, she asked why he supported a "Nazi policy." This question is akin to "Have you stopped beating your wife?" It assumes that a larger question has been answered -that the Obama's policies are evil and naziesque- and uses the insignificant question "why do you support" to entrap the questioned. It is impossible to answer without implying that the subversive assumptions of the questioner are correct.
The woman wanted to repeat the falsehood that Obama is Hitler, because by much repetition rumors are spread, and rumors do a great job of clogging the collective consciousness with whatever agenda the rumor starter desires. Just ask Karl Rove.
She would not waver in her opinions no matter what the answers or the facts happened to be. Conversation with people in such a mindset is frustrating and pointless.
It would be just like having a conversation with a dining room table.
Doesn't Barney Frank get to exercise free speech as well?
ReplyDeleteAlso, unfortunately for some, he spoke truth.
