Ron Paul on War with Iran

I love it when he makes fun of neocons. "I think the #1 reason this all broke. . . is the very very powerful and most militant neocons are very worried about Obama and other countries meeting with Iran. . . and they want to see it stopped." "Of course they're[Iran] talking tough, it's a tough neighborhood." "Punish the people of Iran... and they'll throw out their ayatollahs and they'll be friends with the West. Quite frankly it does exactly the opposite." The Iranians have kept all international laws. "You know what this sounds like? It sounds like war mongering. This sounds like the same old stuff that we heard prior to the Iraqi war."

Many ways to read it: The U.S. Needs to Repent

Image
I make one comment in church: "We are sinners, too." I have never said it in those exact words, but that is the general idea. We find it hard to admit that we are sinners. When we read about Lamanites, or Judas, or King David, we think : Those are the bad guys. I usually don't hear people in Sunday school say, "This story teaches us that we should repent." The closest the conversation usually come is "we should avoid people like that." People like that are us. I may not be the king of Jerusalem, but I might commit adultery in my heart . I may not betray Christ for 30 pieces of silver, but I might figuratively trample him under my feet by not obeying his commandments. So when, in Sunday School, I feel the spirit of self-righteousness beginning to stifle out the spirit of God, I raise my hand and say: "We are sinners too." picture's source This isn't Sunday school, but I want to raise my hand, here in America, and remind us that ...

Repentance not necessary

A friend recently read Michelle Malkin's book Culture of Corruption about Obama. I had an interesting argument with him about it. I think the argument is over, but I am not yet finished with Malkin. She recently appeared on the Hannity show, furious that Obama had apologized for the U.S.'s past conduct. How can I describe what they said ? Stupid? Imperialistic? Perhaps uncharitable would be the best word, because it spit in the face of Christ's teachings. Hannity confessed that he worships Satan. Or rather, he worships the idol of democracy with a reverence for Satan's tactics . HANNITY : "But, you know, he [Obama] says democracy cannot be imposed on any nation from outside . He goes on to say -- he said, and the United States of America will never waver in our attempts to stand up for the right of people to determine their own destiny. I thought it was America's belief, our founding document believes that we're endowed by our creator and that we...

Glenn Beck and I finally agree

McCain would have been worse than Obama. " How about this? I think John McCain would have been worse for the country than Barack Obama. How’s that? " - Glenn Beck

America's One Party System

" we don't have a two-party system. We have a one-party system. Both parties endorse the welfare state and corporatism. Both parties support interventionism overseas. But they also write all the campaign laws. So they have made it virtually impossible to break into the monopoly ." Watch vid. " I have a right to the fruits of my labor, and government does not. If you concede the principle of the income tax, you concede the principle that the government owns all your income and permits you to keep a certain percentage of it. God-given rights to our life and our liberty don't come from government ." - Ron Paul

Lobbyists control congress

Image
To go along with my post on the money behind the health care debate . Our congressmen are literally sleeping with lobbyists.

Obama Kids

Image
Obama's speech to elementary kids happened a couple of weeks ago, but this was too good to pass up: And I wrote earlier, but it bears repeating: And I wrote earlier, but it bears repeating: a friend pointed out that thousands of parents taught their children that it is okay to not listen to people you disagree with. If such an attitude pervades in politics then public discourse will degenerate to one-sided slogans, and the debate (and public opinion) will be easily controlled by pundits, politicians, and the lobbyists who pay them. But I suppose we are already there.

Ground floor of the 9/12 DC march

No wonder most news networks gave air coverage. It's scary on the ground. Click here to watch "Jesus is our king." "Obama is the anti-christ." "This wouldn't have happened without Glenn Beck." "Glenn Beck is so logical."

You Lie!

Into the mouth of babes

Image
Corporations don't care about your kids. They care about your money. They'll say pretty much anything to get your money. They'll say that you should feed your baby a diet of processed sugar. That it's "proven" that it will have social and/or health benefits. For example: in the 1970's Nestle suffered a scandal because their salespeople had told poor mothers that Nestle infant formula was better than breast milk. The poor mothers would spend what little money they had on food that was less nutritious for their baby. As a result children suffered malnourishment and some even died. Poor, undereducated mothers continue to breast feed less than wealthier, more educated mothers. Nothing has changed. Fruit Loops was recently labeled a "Smart Choice" food for being high in fiber. That's right. As if the crime of labeling puffs of sugar( 44% ) as cereal wasn't a great enough lie, now a bowl of milk-soaked candy is labeled good for you. Ap...

More reasonable voices on Health Care

In contrast to my last post about crazy mobs, here's a couple guys who speak rationally about the health care debate. And Bill Moyers, who is always eloquent, also talks about the powerful lobbyists who have taken control of the health care debate. He also talks about the political pundits who have become so powerful. It is interesting that people like Beck and Limbaugh, who are unelected officials, whose very jobs rely on controversy, and who are able to sell books and gain viewership the more antagonistic they can be, should yield so much influence over the American people.

Hitleresque: I'm glad I'm not a Republican

A link to the article this video came from. Brought to you by people who can't figure out the difference between 2,000,000 and 70,000. (answer: 28.6X)

The big money behind the 9/12 DC march

The 9/12 marches are not spontaneous grass-roots protests. They are the manipulated guinea pigs of large, rich political organizations that use Glenn Beck as their mouth piece. Some say that Fox is the only station that will cover the protests. If Fox gets there first it is only because they have insider knowledge. Fox created the protests. And on Obama's other speech, the one to the children: A friend pointed out that thousands of parents taught their children that it is okay to not listen to people you disagree with.

Health Care Simplified

I like the way this guy simplifies the issues He simplifies them according to my beliefs, which makes me like it. He makes some good points.

Obama's Speech

Compared to right wing crazery

Glenn Beck gives Mormons a bad name

Here's a clip on talk radio hate speech. Why does hate speech mostly come from the Right? This isn't the first time Beck has fantasized about killing someone. "I think he could be looking me in the eye, and I could be choking the life out of him. Is this wrong?" His moral compass is skewed to the right.

Al Franken talks healthcare to teabaggers

We need more comedians in office. He speaks highly of the Mayo Clinic. And he doesn't shout insults and mindless slogans. He has an actual conversation. Wow.

The cartoon says so

This cartoon wants you to have universal health care.

Ulcers a preexisting condition

Professor Fink can't get health insurance because he was diagnosed with stomach ulcers when he was 13. He is 3 years overdue on a colonoscopy. And he doesn't like the current Republican strategy.

Chick Nuggets: Another reason to eat locally

Warning: The following video is gross, and sad. Male chicks are 'useless' according to industry standards, so they are euthanized by blender. I think a demented 12 year old came up with this idea. The video tells you to be vegan. But I advise you buy your eggs and chicken from a local farmer who doesn't abuse baby chicks.
