Doing it in the butt

"Abortion is sometimes murder, and homosexual acts are sinful, but the sins that will destroy our society are respectable and envied, even by the religious, not those that make us queasy."

Crystal's husband Steve wrote recently on their blog about Democracy. He quoted Mosiah and Helaman from The Book of Mormon.

Mosiah taught that Democracy is strong because:

"It is not common that the voice of the people desireth anything contrary to that which is right; but it is common for the lesser part of the people to desire that which is not right"

"The voice of the people" is an interesting line. Voice and vote are etymologically related words. When the text says "voice of the people" you can think of it as their vote.

When religious people vote, or voice their opinion, they make it a matter of faith an prayer. Beginning in the 1970's Christians banded together and began impacting the Presidential vote in a big way. Mormon's for the most part have voted along with them. But this has got to change.

Most religious people vote Republican because they are against gay marriage and abortion. They think that the Republicans agree with them.

I've written about abortion before. I pointed out that radical Republicans - like the new McCain - want to outlaw abortion entirely, which is against the teachings of the Church. At this time I'd like to address gay marriage.

The reason most all heterosexual men, especially religious men, are against gay-marriage, is because when we hear the word "gay" or "homosexual" we think DOING-IT-IN-THE-BUTT.

Our butt cheeks clench and we get queasy. We vow never to let any homosexuals get near our backsides. Then we dry heave and cry. There is no nightmare more terrifying to a heterosexual man.

It's like that fear of sitting on the toilet and having a spider or a snake bite your butt.

We don't think of the faces of gay people we know. We think of our butts and their unmentionables.

And things just got worse boys. Palin agreed with Biden's stance on gay marriage.

From their debate

IFILL
: The next round of -- pardon me, the next round of questions starts with you, Sen. Biden. Do you support, as they do in Alaska, granting same-sex benefits to couples?

BIDEN: Absolutely. Do I support granting same-sex benefits? Absolutely positively.

IFILL: Governor, would you support expanding that beyond Alaska to the rest of the nation?

[Doesn't answer question]

But I also want to clarify, if there's any kind of suggestion at all from my answer that I would be anything but tolerant of adults in America choosing their partners, choosing relationships that they deem best for themselves.

IFILL: Let's try to avoid nuance, Senator. Do you support gay marriage?

BIDEN: No. Barack Obama nor I support redefining from a civil side what constitutes marriage. We do not support that. That is basically the decision to be able to be able to be left to faiths and people who practice their faiths the determination what you call it.

The bottom line though is, and I'm glad to hear the governor, I take her at her word, obviously, that she think there should be no civil rights distinction, none whatsoever, between a committed gay couple and a committed heterosexual couple. If that's the case, we really don't have a difference.

IFILL: Is that what you said?

PALIN: Your question to him was whether he supported gay marriage and my answer is the same as his and it is that I do not.

IFILL: Wonderful. You agree. On that note, let's move to foreign policy.

(Emphasis added)

Neither party is going to eliminate homosexuality, and neither wants to change the definition of marriage. So there is no reason to vote Republican based solely on your feelings of homosexuality, because they share the same opinion, even if they express it in slightly different terms.

Abortion is sometimes murder, and homosexual acts are sinful, but the sins that will destroy our society are respectable and envied, even by the religious, not these that make us queasy.

Gay sex has never destroyed a civilization. Here are the sins that destroyed the Nephites 300 years after the Savior created the perfect society for them:

4 Nephi 1
24 the wearing of costly apparel
25 they did have their goods and their substance no more acommon among them.
26 And they began to be divided into classes; and they began to build up achurches unto themselves to get bgain, and began to deny the true church of Christ.

and Mormon 8
37 For behold, ye do love amoney, and your substance, and your fine apparel, and the adorning of your churches, more than ye love the poor and the needy, the sick and the afflicted.

No mention of doing-it-in-the-butt. No. The sin that brought down that great civilization, and the sin that will bring down our own, is not the love of man for man, but the love of money.

Every self-respecting American wants to be rich. This is our sin. The sin we should combat is the one we struggle with, not the one others struggle with.

And yet this year thousands of homophobes will again cast their votes against the poor, and against their own best interests, to support an adulterer who panders to their religious ideology.

That's right. John McCain cheated on his first wife, and divorced her to marry a younger, richer woman.

Adultery seems to me more of a threat to our marriages than homosexuality.

We respect the rich. Doesn't matter if they commit adultery. Doesn't matter if they crater the economy. We envy them because of what they have.

Wisely did Paul say:
"the alove of bmoney is the root of all evil"

The majority of the House and Senate just voiced, or voted, their approval for a bailout for the rich. We will, in essence, give $700,000,000,000 to the rich, which they will in turn loan back to us with interest.

Oh frail Democracy, how quickly do the people turn from their God to worship Mammon. And in only a few years turn away from civility and charity toward persecutions and bigotry, like a dog to its vomit.

  1. Wow. That post was much more balanced and well articulated than the pictures and the title suggested. I'll admit; I was a little worried.

  2. False. According to President Kimball, Sodom and Gommorah were destroyed because of homosexuality. The angels were visiting Lot and his neighbors asked him to send the angels out so the neighbors could "know" them. And we all know that, in the Bible, "know" does not mean tea and crumpets. Unless it involves "in-the-butt" as well. So homosexuality, and overall immorality, has destroyed nations.
