The Real America

McCain accused Obama of being friends with a dangerous terrorist,
As Palin whipped up a mob to a dangerous frenzy.

McCain accused Obama of being elitist,
And then Palin told small town America that they are better than the rest of America.

McCain accused Obama of being too inexperienced to be President,
And then chose Palin as his running mate.

McCain/Palin would destroy the union to win an election.

Don’t believe me?

Which of these quotes divide, and which unite?

"The contest is not over, the strife is not ended. It has only entered upon a new and enlarged arena.

The principle for which we contend is bound to reassert itself, though it may be at another time and in another form."
Jefferson Davis, President of the Confederate States of America, after the war had ended.

"We believe that the best of America is in these small towns that we get to visit, and in these wonderful little pockets of what I call the real America, being here with all of you hard-working, very patriotic, very pro-America areas of this great nation."
Sarah Palin

"We are not enemies, but friends. We must not be enemies. Though passion may have strained it must not break our bonds of affection.

The mystic chords of memory, stretching from every battlefield and patriot grave to every living heart and hearthstone all over this broad land, will yet swell the chorus of the Union, when again touched, as surely they will be, by the better angels of our nature."
Lincoln's First Inaugural Address, March 4, 1861.

"Now even as we speak, there are those who are preparing to divide us, the spin masters and negative ad peddlers who embrace the politics of anything goes.

Well, I say to them tonight, there's not a liberal America and a conservative America; there's the United States of America.

There's not a black America and white America and Latino America and Asian America; there's the United States of America.

We are one people, all of us pledging allegiance to the stars and stripes, all of us defending the United States of America. "
Barack Obama

  1. Interesting comparisons. I wonder if I'm a 'real' American.

  2. What is the liberal point of view toward Jeremiah Wright? I'm curious as to what someone that is for Obama thinks about that? Personally it makes me nervous.
