Obama the Beast

People with influence propagate this kind of garbage.

This goes along well with the Voltaire comment above.

We shouldn't use fear to push our ideologies, nor make decisions out of fear. The Democrats may have used some doom and gloom predictions to get the stimulus bill passed, but their predictions at least followed reason, i.e., this action or inaction will result in this terrible outcome. Even prophets make such predictions.

But this kind of fear-mongering is on a whole new level.

Using this Biblical imagery of the beast creates a fanatical fear devoid of reason. The Dems' doom and gloom prediction was at least based in reality. Our actual actions can result in actual consequences. But broadcasting fearful scriptural interpretations is not honest journalism, it is fear-mongering. It twists Americans' reverence for the Bible for political gain, and is of the devil.

That's right, Hannity uses Satan's tactics.

How does one tell the difference between true communication and the twisting of truth to spread falsehoods? There is no sure way outside of the guidance of the Holy Ghost. But let reason be our guide. And as our signpost the words:

"Is there any intelligence communicated?"

—Joseph Smith, from Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith, sec. 4, p. 204.

p.s.
Josh wrote in the comments that he missed the point of this. Sometimes I forget to include a point when I rant.

My rant was against the two clergymen who preach this bull, and against Hannity and other news organizations for broadcasting this garbage. If they were newsmen, they would pass up this kind of garbage or handle it differently. But they're pundits, shamelessly pushing their party's agenda using whatever means necessary.

I think The Daily Show handled this with the respect and dignity it deserved.

Also funny if you've seen The Usual Suspects.
