How's Your News?

What a surprise that you get your "news" from Comedy Central. No wonder you are so misguided.

Anonymous is kind of a condescending jerk.  I'm sure if he shared my opinion, we'd get along just fine.

He seems to not think too highly of Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert.  Whereas I think their satirical discussion of important issues is comparable to the 'rude' approach that Socrates took when he confronted the hypocrisy of his time.

Whereas conservative pundits like Limbaugh and Hannity wear solemn faces and spread their agenda through fear, most liberal pundits (Stewart, Maher, Franken) choose to use comedy.  Unfortunately sometimes their comedy is crude.  Crude humor may turn away good people who try to avoid bad things.  But those same people may listen to Limbaugh, Hannity, or Beck, and invite a fear into their minds.  This fear clouds reason and is the poisonous weapon of the devil.  So in trying to avoid one of the devil's corruptions, they wholeheartedly embrace another.

Another point for Stewart is that his bias is obvious.  Whereas O'Reilly and Hannity pretend to give "fair and balanced" coverage, their guise of fairness is hypocrisy.

Which is why I prefer Stewart's approach:

"I love that man better who swears a stream as long as my arm yet deals justice to his neighbors and mercifully deals his substance to the poor, than the long, smooth-faced hypocrite." -Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith, Section Six 1843-44, p.303

I will respond to the rest of anonymous's comments shortly.

  1. You certainly are quick to call names - a sure sign that you feel threatened and have nothing of value to say.

  2. Liberals seem to like to name call when they can't make a good case for their arguments, such as "Anonymous is kind of a condescending jerk". Maher and Stewart do it a lot also. I happen to watch both Stewart and Colbert, but Maher is so condescending toward religion and God that I can't stand to listen to him. I watch and read mainstream media news which has a decidedly liberal bias. I also listen to Limbaugh and Hannity. I doubt you listen to these fellows though, or you would know that Hannity makes no bones about his conservative views. So their bias is also obvious. But you wouldn't know that because you seem to get your views from just the liberal comic sources. You would do well to listen to both sides. I have read many of your posts and you haven't spoken too much about Obama's views on abortion (extremely liberal and heinous). You have spoken about his policy to be "transparent", he's already gone back on that one. He's also gone back on the "no lobbyists in his administration" as well as other promises. Become informed sir, otherwise you are as lopsided as any of them.

My apologies if this was sent twice. I'm not sure if I hit the "publish your comment" button or not.

  3. It's true conservatives never name-call. President Bush never once used the word "asshole" within listening distance of a microphone.

    oops.

Could Nicholas kindly direct me to the person or post that said conservatives never name call?
