Love Your Enemies: Glenn Beck Edition
Obama is going to sit down and talk with the Taliban! Terrorists! And worse, conservative Canadians agree with him!
On today's show, Glenn Beck (and probably other conservative pundits, I only assume, since I don't watch them) made this sound like the worst thing in the world. It only lacked creepy music and a picture of Obama burning an American flag.
News flash, Republicans have been sitting down and talking with terrorists since 1865.
Lee even escaped punishment. Nowadays we would've hanged the man.
Obama's decision to talk with the Taliban sounds like the worst thing in the world because we have vilified our foes beyond the point of reason and Christian charity. Their legitimate complaints and causes for war are ignored. And anyone who would try to understand them is labeled a liberal sympathizer or a terrorist.
Obama's decision to sit down with the Taliban is a sign that he may be the greatest Republican president we've had since Lincoln (note: this is a joke, and ironic because Obama is a Democrat.)

That's right. Lincoln, the first Republican president, negotiated with Robert E. Lee, the man who led the most successful campaign of terror against the U.S. in our history, killing over 360,000 and wounding another 275,000 U.S. citizens. Maybe Lincoln was a terrorist like Obama.Lee even escaped punishment. Nowadays we would've hanged the man.
