Repentance: An actual apology to Jason Chaffetz

Jason,

Perhaps you have never heard of me. I'm in your district, but I didn't vote for you, and I've been kind of a jerk to you. I'm rabidly opposed to forcing people to live in tents. Perhaps it stems from memories of camping trips gone bad.

But here's the thing. You may have the answer for ending corruption in politics. You sleep in a freaking cot. If this isn't a show, and you really are this frugal, if you really won't accept federal earmarks like you've promised, if you really won't accept lobbyists money, perhaps you could lead ethics reform here in Utah.

Utah has been a one-party state for too long. This lopsidedness has enabled politicians here to get away with whatever they want, because there is no outside opposition.

I have you on a google alert, so I read daily updates about what you're up to. I like what you're doing so far. And if you keep your promises, and keep your hands clean, I might even vote for you next time around.

Thanks for giving me this opportunity to apologize. And I also appreciate how considerate your people were when they commented on my blog.

Unlike that anonymous guy. He's a jerk.

  1. Wow! I'm flabbergasted!!! It's very heartening to hear you apologize to Jason. I'm not going to belabor the point, but Jason really is for real. I helped get him elected. And if he ever turns on us and stops keeping his promise, I'll do my part to unelect him. But for the time being, he's right on track doing everything he promised he would.

  2. Once again, if the people working for Jason are any indication, he's a good guy.
