Repentance for being a jerk

Anonymous first said that my "sensationalization" was "stupid, but cute."

Then he said, "You certainly are quick to call names - a sure sign that you feel threatened and have nothing of value to say."

Do you see the contradiction?

But he's right.

Absolutely freaking right (about us both).

Another commentator also left a comment to put me in my place, making me feel rather stupid.

But I'm okay with that, because I am kind of stupid. We all are.

And that's why we need to take an opportunity to learn from each other.

KFMumzee pointed out that I obviously don't listen to conservative radio. She's right. I have read Deliver Us From Evil by Hannity. But that's the extent of my knowledge from his perspective.

I'm okay with with what KFMumzee said, and have only one correction. I have written extensively about abortion, and put some of it on my blog. If you use the google search bar at the top of my blog, and type in "abortion," you get seven hits.

But I have a bone to pick with anonymous. He said, I have "nothing of value to say." And also insinuated that John Stewart had nothing of value to say either.

That's wrong.

Everyone has something of value to say. I learn much of curiosity, courage, respect, and humor by listening to children. We can even learn from chickens if we put our minds to it.

And so I repent. I confess that I did not verify my facts before posting, and that I have unfairly vilified the other side. My next post will be a real apology to Jason Chaffetz, a local politician whom I have mercilessly teased. And after that I hope to correct my mistated facts on military spending.

  1. I like this post better than most of yours, but there is still a problem.

I said your comments on defense spending were stupid. I didn't say you were stupid. Do you see the distinction?

According to Merriam Webster, 'stupid' means marked by or resulting from unreasoned thinking or acting. Your comments on defense spending were decidedly untrue, but if you don't believe me, I could educate you on why a big giant portion of our defense budget is spent on things that don't just "kill people".

Saying things that are untrue is stupid. If I said something that was untrue - it would be stupid of me. Fortunately, that never happens.

  2. Thanks.

So you didn't say I am stupid, just my words are stupid. Yet the latter is generally all we have to judge the former.

Next time, if you use the word 'untrue,' instead of 'stupid,' I'm much less likely to take offense.

  3. Christopher,

I can seen anonymous' point though. Intelligent people can say and do stupid things - it happens to everyone. Just because you do one stupid thing one time (or dozen times for that matter) it does not mean YOU are stupid....it just means your actions (or your words) were and you should probably adjust accordingly - and it sounds like you are....

And that shows to all that you are not "stupid"....
